Baharat Spice Blend

A small-batch Middle Eastern Baharat spice blend with warm allspice, cinnamon, coriander, black pepper, cumin, cloves, and nutmeg. Makes just enough for a few recipes, including Iraqi T’beet.

Baharat Spice Blend

A small-batch Middle Eastern Baharat spice blend with warm allspice, cinnamon, coriander, black pepper, cumin, cloves, and nutmeg. Makes just enough for a few recipes, including Iraqi T’beet.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Combine all of the ground spices in a small bowl and mix thoroughly until evenly blended.
  • Use immediately, or transfer to an airtight spice jar and store in a cool, dark place. Stir or shake before using.

Notes

This small batch yields about 3 3/4 teaspoons. The Iraqi T’beet recipe uses 2 teaspoons, leaving a little extra for another dish.
