Baharat Spice Blend
A small-batch Middle Eastern Baharat spice blend with warm allspice, cinnamon, coriander, black pepper, cumin, cloves, and nutmeg. Makes just enough for a few recipes, including Iraqi T’beet.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Combine all of the ground spices in a small bowl and mix thoroughly until evenly blended.
- Use immediately, or transfer to an airtight spice jar and store in a cool, dark place. Stir or shake before using.
Notes
This small batch yields about 3 3/4 teaspoons. The Iraqi T’beet recipe uses 2 teaspoons, leaving a little extra for another dish.
